Voters will select up to three candidates. The three candidates receiving the most votes will each serve a two-year term on the Village Council.

Candidate Eligibility

Under Texas Election Code ยง 141.001, a candidate for Alderman must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term
  • Have resided continuously in Texas for 12 months and in the Village of Briarcliff for 6 months preceding the applicable date specified by statute
  • Be a registered voter in the Village of Briarcliff
  • Not have been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities
  • Not have been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated, or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
