Village of Briarcliff Village Council Regular Meeting Minutes- December 4, 2019
Mayor Hostetler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance.
Present: Aldermen Elliott, Johnston, Hertel and Richmond. Absent: Linda Aldrich.
Mayor Hostetler asked if there is any Citizen Communications.
Laura Mordecai said she had only one thing to say, βGreat Jobβ to the Mayor and Council.
Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Elliott, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the November 20, 2019, Special Called Meeting. All in favor, Motion passed.
Alderman Hertel made a motion, seconded by Alderman Johnston, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the October 30, 2019, City Council Regular Monthly Meeting. All in favor, motion passed.
Alderman Richmond read and gave a review of the financial reports for October, 2019.
Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Elliott, to Confirm 2020 Monthly Meeting Schedule and Holiday Closings for the Village of Briarcliff. All in favor, motion passed.
Alderman Hertel made a motion, seconded by Alderman Johnston to approve the Floodplain Ordinance Amendment 2019-12-04-09 amending and updating the date of January 22, 2020. All in favor, motion passed.
Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hertel to approve Ordinance amendment 2019-12-04-10 amending the Junk Vehicle Ordinance allowing individuals other than the Briarcliff Police Officer to enforce Junk Vehicle Violations. All in favor, motion passed.
Mayor Hostetler gave an update about ongoing activities:
Everyone should have received our letter about lead/copper in our sampling of homes in Briarcliff. Again, as the letter stated, there is no lead in our system, only in the two older houses of the many sampled. If you have an older home and are concerned about your water, contact us to have your water sampled.
The Village Christmas decoration contest is again underway. Dates of judging are December 17-19. We encourage everyone to join in signs will be posted tomorrow.
As Iβve said at several earlier meetings, we are working on tightening the building program especially as it applies to clearing lots to build. We have our draft finalized and now its off to the attorney to make it legal.
Mayor Hostetler read the Constables Security Report.
Mayor Hostetler announced that Constable Sergio Flores is our permanent β not Temporary Deputy Constable. He is doing a great job!
City Administrator, Aaron Johnson reported the City is going to go direct with Lonestar Paving to pave Cat Hollow, Judy Lynn and Felicia Drives. There have been minimal problems with the new meters.
Mayor Hostetler reminded everyone to sign up for Eye on Water.
