Village of Briarcliff Village Council Regular Meeting Minutes July 28, 2021

Before the Mayor called the meeting to order, Village Clerk, Tina Linder swore in Alderman Cindy Taylor.

Mayor Hostetler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Present: Aldermen Elliott, Johnston, Taylor and Richmond. Absent: Alderman Aldrich.

Alderman Elliott made a motion, seconded by Alderman Taylor, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the June 30, 2021, Regular Monthly Meeting. All in favor, motion passed.

Alderman Richmond gave a brief review of the revenues and expenses of the June, 2021 financials.

Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Taylor to approve the water tap increase for a 5/8 x ΒΌ increase to 5,000 and 1” to 7,500. All in favor, motion passed.

Mayor Hostetler gave an update about ongoing activities:

Regarding the new parking ordinance, we sent out ten letters to violators. Nine of the ten cleaned up their situation. The last one had problems with the letter addressing the violation and in fact the lady is selling her motorhome so I gave her a two week extension. Also, regarding the parking ordinance, in the process of enforcing it, myself and several residents found some confusing and conflicting information so I’m working up a draft to make changes, maybe as early as the August meeting. I would ask Council members to read it critically and send me anything you find.

Meeting with Sergeant Deleon today and we will be changing our Deputy probably in August. Also, the Deputies are more active and aggressive enforcing traffic violations now.

I bought six leash law signs for Eric from the BPOA to put on the trails where I’ve been told a lot of violations occur.

Luis Ozuna, Constables Security Report: Daily activities for July, 2021 include the following:

Patrol every street for visibility purposes to deter crime, taking calls for service, self-initiating personal contact with the community to build a better partnership, stationary and rolling radar for compliance of the speed limit.

Monthly patrol hours: 168

Total of 67 calls for Service, 3 Traffic Stops, 4 Citations, 3 Warnings, 1 Close Patrols, 3 Community Contacts.

City Administrator, Aaron Johnson gave a brief report.
