Village of Briarcliff Village Council Regular Meeting Minutes June 30, 2021

Mayor Hostetler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Present: Aldermen Aldrich, Elliott and Johnston. Absent: Alderman Richmond.

Mayor Hostetler nominates Cindy Taylor to fill the single vacancy on the Board of Aldermen of the Village of Briarcliff created by the resignation of Alderman Hertel. Cindy Taylor will serve the remainder of Dave Hertel’s term until the next election for that position per applicable law. Aldermen Aldrich, Elliott and Johnston accept the appointment of Cindy Taylor. All in favor. Motion passed.

Mayor Hostetler nominates Alderman Aldrich, Mayor Pro-Tem.

Alderman Elliott made a motion, seconded by Alderman Aldrich, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the May 26, 2021, Regular Monthly Meeting. All in favor, motion passed.

Tina Linder, City Secretary gave a brief review of the revenues and expenses of the May, 2021 financials.

Mayor Hostetler gave an update about ongoing activities:

Starting July 1, Briarcliff will have recycling pickup every week. Info is on the website and I’ve posted it to Facebook and Nextdoor.

Also, starting July 1, it is now legal to trim oak trees. All wounds must be treated immediately.

Letters are going out to violators of our new parking ordinance warning them that citations will be issued after July 15 if the situations are not rectified.

We will have law enforcement on duty both Saturday and Sunday night looking for fireworks.

July 4th parade and bring your own picnic.

Daily activities for June, 2021 include the following:

Patrol every street for visibility purposes to deter crime, taking calls for service, self-initiating personal contact with the community to build a better partnership, stationary and rolling radar for compliance of the speed limit.

Monthly patrol hours: 168

Total of 64 calls for Service, 5 Traffic Stops, 4 Citations, 4 Warnings, 1 Close Patrols, 21 Community Contacts.

City Manager, Aaron Johnson reported he is working on upgrading systems in the waterplant.
