Mayor Hostetler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Alderman Aldrich, Elliott, and Taylor. Absent: Alderman Richmond and Johnston.
Citizen Communications: Michael Olszewski gave an update regarding rezoning. Gina Brown, Treasurer of the Briarcliff Property Owners Association (BPOA) discussed with the Council the possibility of turning over the roads and/or dissolve the BPOA. Mayor Hostetler agrees for the needs of the Briarcliff roads. The BPOA board and the Council may need to come up with a task force to discuss if it will be feasible.
Alderman Elliott made a motion, seconded by Alderman Taylor, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the September 14, 2022 Public Hearing. All in favor, motion passed.
Alderman Elliott made a motion, seconded by Alderman Taylor, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the September 14, 2022, Village Council Regular Monthly Meeting. All in favor, motion passed.
Village Clerk, Tina Linder gave a brief review of the monthly and end of year to date revenues and expenses of the September, 2022 financial statements.
Alderman Taylor made a motion, seconded by Alderman Elliott to Amend 2021-2022 Budget. All in favor, motion passed.
Alderman Elliott made a motion, seconded by Alderman Aldrich, to adopt an increase from the current $33.07 per month rate to $36.05 per month rate for Texas Disposal Services for Sanitation Services. Mayor Hostetler met with the Texas Disposal Representative and agreed with a reasonable 9% increase effective November 1st. All in favor, motion passed.
Mayor Hostetler gave an update regarding ongoing activities: The Pedernales Fire Department Auxiliary held their fall fund raiser β BBQ provided by βItβs all Good BBQβ. We had a fantastic turnout and the event was a huge success.
New home building in Briarcliff seems to be still going strong with 20 new homes under construction. Several builders however are working at a slow pace. I am researching the idea of putting a time limit on completing house construction once started. I am open to ideas from Council members on how to implement a rule.
The BPOAβs Fall Festival is this coming Sunday 3 β 7 at the park. Lots going on to include 25 people signed up for the Chili Cookoff.
Travis County Constable Scott Ginnetti said that everyone has been compliant. Business as usual more dogs have been loose.
City Manager, Aaron Johnson reported things have slowed down this month. They had a meeting with Lake Travis ISD to discuss building new school and they will put some money up front instead of waiting to after it is built. Better Fire protection will make a big difference. Aaron also complained that 130 Badger Meter endpoints are not working we have had some issues with software and cell towers. They are going to replace them all.
