Mayor Hostetler called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
Present: Mayor Hostetler, Aldermen Charlesworth, Johnston, Aldrich and Richmond. Absent: Alderman Elliott.
Citizenβs communications: Resident voiced his concern regarding the stop sign that is hidden behind trees on North Dunkeld. He is concerned about accidents at that intersection. Resident gave ideas on how to correct the issue. Same resident believes that the stop sign wording at the back entrance need to be repainted. He also said that other residents have been complaining of not seeing the Constables patrolling. The Council responded by saying they see them when they are here. Resident asked if we sold the cop car yet and the Mayor responded that we have not. Same resident had a question regarding the patrol vehicle line item on the budget and what that amount was for. The Mayor and Council explained that the patrol vehicle and the Constables pay is separate.
Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Charlesworth, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the June, 2025 Public Hearing. All in favor, Motion passed.
Alderman Aldrich made a motion, seconded by Alderman Johnston to accept and waive the reading of the June 2025 Regular Meeting Minutes. All in favor, Motion passed.
Village Financial Report for June and July, 2025 read by City Secretary Amber Rowe.
Alderman Charlesworth made a motion, seconded by Alderman Johnston to adopt budget ordinance for 2025-2026. All in favor, Motion passed.
Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Charlesworth to adopt property tax rate ordinance. All in favor, Motion passed.
Alderman Charlesworth made a motion, seconded by Alderman Johnston to adopt resolution for adopting both newspapers, Lake Travis View and Austin American Statesman as the Village qualified newspapers. All in favor, motion passed.
Update about ongoing activities: ESD8 is trying to merge with ESD6. Also Alderman Charlesworth discussed his concerns with the front entrance and how much more traffic will be going through that area as more development continues. Would like to discuss problem solving issues, main idea of making the front entrance a round a bout or putting in lights. Mayor Hostetler explained that the front entrance area unfortunately is where state, county and city roads all meet. So, we would have to discuss with multiple entities to get something done. Alderman Aldrich and Alderman Charlesworth are both willing to start making calls and researching state and county roads.
Security Report: Constable Johnson stated that there has been reports of construction crews speeding in the Cat Hollow side, but other than that there hasnβt been anything other to report.
City Administrator stated that the easement with the BPOA for new water line has been signed and sent to Travis County for recording. Our engineer is working on bid documents for water line. The school has put its plans on hold for now, due to their budget.
