Mayor Hostetler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Mayor Hostetler, Aldermen Charlesworth, Johnston, Aldrich, Richmond and Elliott.
Citizenβs communications: Resident thanked the Village for listening to his complaints. He knows that his issues arenβt the only issues in Briarcliff but appreciates that we listen.
Alderman Richmond made a motion, seconded by Alderman Charlesworth, to accept and waive the reading of the minutes of the April 30, 2025 Regular Meeting. All in favor, Motion passed.
Village Financial Report for April, 2025 read by City Secretary Amber Rowe.
Nominated Linda Aldrich for Mayor Pro-Tem and Jeff Elliott for Treasurer.
Update about ongoing activities: Mayor Hostetler gave an update that our contract with Precinct 4 is finally complete and our full-time deputy is on board. The Mayor introduced our full-time Constable James Johnson. The Mayor explained that James is doing a great job. He has spoke with the kids that have been riding their e-bikes off road and has also been addressing other things that have come up in Briarcliff. Mayor Hostetler also reminded everyone that tree trimming is still prohibited until July 1st and that we have already given multiple violations to people for cutting out of season. We have also given violations for individuals watering lawns outside the allowed times.
Security Report: Constable Johnson reported that he spoke with the kids riding the e-bikes off road and he made contact with a few solicitors in Briarcliff.
City Administrator stated that we are getting close on easements regarding the new waterline and he will be speaking with the surveyors in 2 weeks. He has also sent plans to TCEQ for approval. Nothing to report regarding the water plant, it has been normal activities. Still attempting to annex a 3-acre parcel and he has emailed our city attorney to write the ordinance for the annexation
