Village of Briarcliff Village Council Special Meeting Minutes June 17, 2024

Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00pm

Present: Alderman Aldrich, Johnston, Richmond, Charlesworth, and Taylor

City Manager, Aaron Johnson explained a proposal to buy the 7 acres of the Dibrell ranch which the Village has leased since 2008. They proposed the Village purchase the property for $55,000 per acre. They also specified several terms for the deal which would be specified in the formal contract. After some discussion, Alderman Aldrich made a motion, seconded by Alderman Johnston to accept the proposal to buy the property. All in favor. Motion passed.

Aaron then introduced the second item on the agenda regarding providing water service to the Texas Hill Country Proper Vineyard and Resort located several miles southwest of Briarcliff. After significant discussion, Alderman Charlesworth made a motion, seconded by Alderman Richmond to Authorize the Mayor to negotiate with the developers of the property regarding all aspects of a final solution. All in favor. Motion passed.
